Creating a Quote
There are two ways to start a new quote: from scratch or from a template.
Starting from scratch
- Click the + New Quote button. You'll find it in the sidebar or at the top of the quotes list.
- A blank quote editor opens immediately with a unique quote ID already assigned.
- Start filling in the details — customer info, header, sections, and items.
Starting from a Solution template
If your team has created Solutions (reusable templates), you can use one as a starting point:
- Click + New Quote.
- In the quote editor, click Import Solution (or use the solution picker if prompted).
- Choose the solution you want to use. All of its sections, items, pricing, highlights, and content will be copied into your new quote.
- Customize anything you need — change customer details, adjust quantities or pricing, add or remove items.
Starting from a template is a great way to keep your team's quotes consistent while saving time. See Using a Solution for more details.
The quote ID
Every quote gets a unique ID automatically (like EC-A3BK7M). This ID is used in the quote's share link and can be a handy reference when discussing quotes with your team or customers.
Saving your work
Quoteworks auto-saves your changes as you work. You'll see a small save indicator in the editor letting you know your latest changes have been saved. You can also click Save manually at any time.
TIP
A new quote starts as a Draft. It's only visible to you and your team until you choose to publish it. See Publishing & Sharing when you're ready to go live.
