Sections & Line Items
The sections and line items area is where you build out the detailed pricing for your quote. You organize your products and services into sections, and each section contains individual line items with quantities, prices, and descriptions.
Understanding the structure
A quote's pricing is organized in two levels:
- Sections — Named groups that organize your items (e.g., "Hardware," "Software Licenses," "Professional Services").
- Line items — Individual products or services within each section, each with its own quantity, price, and details.
You can have as many sections as you need, and each section can contain as many line items as you want.
Adding a section
- Scroll to the components area of the quote editor.
- Click Add Section.
- Give the section a name by typing in the section header field.
You can reorder sections by dragging them, and rename them at any time.
Adding items to a section
Within any section, click Add Item to add a new line item. For each item, you can set:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The product or service name. |
| Spec | A short specification or subtitle (optional). |
| Quantity | How many units. |
| Price | The price per unit. |
| Billing type | How the item is billed — One-Time, Monthly, Annual, or other options. See Billing Types. |
Additional item options
- Enable / Disable — Toggle an item off to exclude it from the totals without deleting it. Useful for showing optional add-ons that aren't included by default.
- Client-selectable — Mark an item as selectable by your customer. When the customer views the quote, they can toggle these items on or off to customize their order. See Selecting Options for the customer's perspective.
- Details — Expand an item to add rich descriptions, images, and links. See Item Details for more.
Using the Item Picker
Instead of typing items from scratch, you can pull them in from your Items Library:
- Click the Item Picker button (or the "+" icon in a section).
- A panel opens showing all items from your library.
- Search or browse, then click to add items to the current section.
Items added from the library come pre-filled with all their details. You can still edit anything after adding them.
See Using the Item Picker for more details.
Bundle pricing
If you'd like to set a fixed price for an entire section rather than summing up individual item prices, you can enable bundle pricing on a section. This overrides the per-item total with a single section-level price.
Reordering and removing
- Reorder items by dragging them within a section.
- Remove an item by clicking the delete icon on the item row.
- Remove a section by clicking the delete button on the section header. This will also remove all items in that section.
Tips
- Use descriptive section names so your customer can quickly scan the quote structure.
- Group related items together — for example, keep all hardware in one section and software in another.
- Use the spec field for brief technical details like model numbers, versions, or configurations.
